Every organization must be “in good standing” with the state of California and (for United States-registered organizations) with the IRS. GlobalGiving is required to conduct status checks with the following bodies in order to disburse funds. We will pause GlobalGiving fundraising for an organization that fails any of the following checks:
- An organization must not be on the California Attorney General May Not Operate or Solicit for Charitable Purposes registry report’s Registry of Charitable Trusts
- An organization must not be on the California Franchise Tax Board Revoked exempt organizations list
- (For United States-registered organizations) An organization must appear in IRS Publication 78 data; or demonstrate they are a qualifying donee that is eligible to receive tax-deductible charitable contributions and would not be listed in IRS Publication 78.
