How do I know if a GlobalGiving grant or funding notification is real?

If you receive an unexpected message saying your organization has been selected for funding, with someone claiming that GlobalGiving has approved your organization for a grant or disbursement, but requires you to pay a processing fee, administrative charge, tax, or insurance deposit before funds can be released, this is a scam.

GlobalGiving will never require organizations to pay upfront to receive funding.

While GlobalGiving retains a small percentage of donations as part of our standard, publicly disclosed fee structure, those fees are automatically deducted from donations. Organizations are never asked to make a payment before receiving funding.

Be especially cautious if:

  • You receive an unexpected funding notification.
  • You're asked to pay any fee before receiving funds.
  • The message creates urgency or pressure to act quickly.
  • You're contacted before completing GlobalGiving's due diligence process.
