Be cautious if:
- You receive an unexpected notification that you've "won" or been "selected" for GlobalGiving funding
- You're asked to pay any fee upfront before receiving a grant or donation
- The message creates urgency ("respond within 24 hours or forfeit your award")
- Contact comes from a personal email address or unofficial social media account
- You're asked to keep the communication confidential
- Payment is requested via an unusual method (gift cards, cryptocurrency, or mobile payment apps)
- The website URL doesn't match globalgiving.org exactly — watch for slight misspellings like global-giving.org or globalgifting.org
